Are you part of an HMO? First thing you will need to do is find out who you can see, then choose the best from there unless you are willing to incur out of network costs. And not just for office visits. if you have an out of network physician they may use a hospital which is out of network as well and things can get real costly if you end up having any sort of procedures, therapy, etc.

Yes I am. Dr Scrantz is in network. I would check that against the recommendations too.

For the record, James Butler in Slidell is an Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes with backs, but depending on what your specific issue is he may not be your guy. If he isn't, he will certainly let you know upon your visit after an examination etc.

go see Samer Samieh. He's a very good young doc, smart as hell.

In my network, close to where I am. Probably set up an appointment.

There is a guy in Baton Rouge named Chester Forest. I think the name of his business is CF BODYWORKS. He has helped several people I know-he has a gift.

do you walk at all?

a 20min walk per day will do wonders to help strengthen

in addition to any therapy etc

I do. I walk a lot at work and also walk around the neighborhood with my wife and son. It will be ok and then it kills me.

I also have degenerative discs. A chiropractor was no help. I was at the point where I could barely walk across the house 5 years ago.

Starting with a physician you trust is the way to go. Get recommendations from him/her, follow up with any referrals, and follow through with their treatment plans.

The key is a doctor you trust. I'm very active today, and though there is always discomfort, it is minimal and very manageable.
