I can’t imagine any state having worse roads. I’m visiting for the week and I’ve been blown away at how unbelievably bad they are.

Most here take them for granted. We don’t appreciate just how bad they are.

They just need more tax dollars, that's all. Or, another state of emergency that opens up Federal funding/bailouts. Either one will do. Both would be best.

Have you visited Lakeview? It's the cream for sure.

The former DOTD Secretary is running for governor and is pretty much guaranteed to make the runoff.

Ny buddy’s wife is from Mexico. I asked her what was the first big difference she noticed about living in BR; she said she was amazed how nice the roads are.

I thought she was kidding.

She wasn’t

Does the state police still get money from the gas taxes?

It’s like LADOTD actively hates the people that live in La.

It baffles me how US 190 is still a narrow two lane road with no shoulders through most of Livingston Parish.

And that's not the only road that's completely obsolete and has been for decades. There are examples like that all over the state, but it's particularly acute in the Baton Rouge area.

Hilarious that when you cross into Mississippi on I55 you instantly see how improved the paving is. In Mississippi.

Yeah the New Orleans streets are in worse condition than almost anywhere else I've seen. Look at that - if you drove to the left side of that barrel your car would sink into that hole. There is a huge cavity under that pavement and it will collapse if something heavy drives over it.

New Orleans roads are not functionally obsolete like they are in Baton Rouge. They are just completely neglected. And that extends to everything under the pavement too.

With the revenue this state brings in, the resources we have, we shouldn't have all the issues we have. Our politicians are criminals.

I once showed a Portuguese tour guide, who had a dream of one day visiting the US, pictures of New Orleans potholes. He was genuinely devastated at how a country as rich as America couldn’t even fix their roads. I could see the illusion of America shatter in his eyes in live-time.

Can you believe the man who’s supposed to be in charge of those roads is running for governor? That in itself is mind boggling.

For the country's fourth largest city, Houston's roads are a disgrace.
