Modified Phase 2, Mardi Gras weekend, no indoor bar service and temps in teens means Bourbon St bars will have cart dogs...

We’ll definitely get an event like never before since I planned on staying at my camp for 4 days and fishing.

There's something to this. Not sure where yet gets the best of it but a low spinning up near the Gulf with a dip and strengthening jet stream as the cold pushes down.

Classic set up for south Louisiana.

Time to break out the record books when it snowed for Mardi Gras.

It very well could be. Just predicting snow in the South is very difficult for just a few degrees can make a difference between a ho hum inch of cold rain and a generational snow event.
Further, the higher snow totals typically are localized with one city getting several inches of snow and the next town over get nothing at all.

Who downvoted this? Is this not the general setup for southern LA snow?

I’m not sure how to post an auto updating graphic but I’ll look into it.

All my weather apps are now on board with this. Calling for snow Fri and Sat night next weekend. Of course I’m working night shift all weekend so this should be fun

Yep, the official forecast already reflects snow Friday and Saturday nights next weekend. That’s huge for the official forecast to reflect model output this far in advance. There seems to be higher than normal confidence at this stage in the game.

Even with that said, this is going to change and keep changing until whatever happens, happens. In my amateur and unprofessional opinion, it does appear that there may be a significant winter event for some of the south.

Instead of doing an Imgur, just paste the url's for the maps.

Also, GFS has a 12" snowfall total for Atlanta. T&Ps to all my Atlanta brethren if that happens. Get ready for Snowpocalyse part tw

We've had a couple of decent snows since then and there has been no issues. I think lessons were learned from 2014.
