Walmart encouraging eveyone to pay with credit, all using the same cc machine. But wear those masks!

Ah...but they will slow down, and masks and rolling-back opened things will be heralded as the savior.

But, in reality, it'll be that these areas will hit their thresholds and numbers will decline.

Under the tab "New Cases by Collection Date", you can see the date that the positive tests were collected. The new cases report the date the positive results were received.

Yesterday: the total count from 6/30 - 7/13 was 15,596
Today: the total count from 6/30 - 7/13 is 17,678
the total count from 7/01 - 7/14 is 15,581

The #s per date are always changing because when they receive the positive result, they need to go back and attach it to that date. The updates will only show the 2,215 new cases, but won't show that the #s for the last 14 days (7/1-7/14) are 2,097 less than they were from yesterday's updated numbers (6/30-7/13).

2,110 positive test results on 6/30, 13 positive test results on 7/14...so far

Has anyone figured out what kind of decisions will be made 2 weeks from now **when** the numbers haven’t gone down even though the mask mandate is in effect?
we aren’t closing down anymore. Probably just start increasing our hospitalization capacity and hold on tight.

That is contrary to what our illustrious governor has stated over the last week to 10 days.

Also, if you are saying that businesses just won't abide. In January if you would have laid out this whole scenario for me I would have agreed. I have been completely shocked at how complicit and compliant these private businesses have been with these orders. I was absolutely expecting some bars in my town to be open yesterday and today, but no they all shut down like good sheep.

Probably because these places are licensed and can have that pulled immediately.

Why? The government can make life hell for these businesses during this. They are in survival mode right now. Picking a fight with the government probably isn't something they want to do. And if they do want to fight the government, ignoring the orders isn't the most feasible way to do it. There are proper channels to get these accomplished.

Its easy for individuals to puff out their chest and pretend to be principled, but when you actually have risk involved, its a lot harder to stand on those principles.

Its why I just roll my eyes at most of the "freedom fighters" here. There is no risk for you ignoring the mandates. It isn't the same for businesses.

i still dont believe these hospital numbers. i fully believe we have ppl being kept over night "for observation" (money) when they dont truly need to be, or they go for something completely unrelated, but just so happen to test positive.

Can you explain this a little better? Are you saying that the numbers being produced today change a day or two later to reflect when the test was actually taken and rendered positive?

Yep. In the spring, it was a count of people who were in the hospital due to COVID symptoms necessitating hospitalization.

Now, nobody is breaking down the numbers, but we know that it includes some number of people who are in the hospital for other reasons but have tested positive under a mandatory testing scheme.

I doubt the hospitals are keeping anyone they don't think needs oberservation.

However -- I believe someone posted here last week that OLOL in BR was taking in patients from overwhelmed Mississippi hospitals. If that was true and is still true, I assume they are counted as Louisiana beds in use (even though LA case counts would exclude MS residents).

Dude, you have lost all credibility here over how you reacted to the thought of inaccurate reporting, then doubled down on your ridiculous stance in the Florida thread today
