or you could leave them exposed on the battlefield with inferior CAS due to asinine bureaucracy.

She takes a decent photo.

She is friends with an A-10/f-35 pilot friend of mine, I saw it the other day and thought it would be good for the ot

This isn't fricking call of duty, the battlefield you're talking about is no longer the battlefield we are on, and keeping fifteen sets of scalpels when a knife can accomplish that job and more doesn't make sense.

any woman willing to strap an A-10 on her back should be awarded a couple higher spots on the the 1-10 sex appeal scale

You do realize that most pilots don't "pick" the A-10... it gets picked for them.

Yes but there is still something badass about a woman willing to be a fighter/ground attack pilot regardless of airframe.

Because what I said is entirely true? The money will come from somewhere, and if you haven't noticed over the past few years, service members themselves are the easy target to accomplish that.

We do have an all volunteer army, right? Just checking.

Absolutely, in which people sign contracts locking them in, thereafter having benefits taken from them that they were originally promised. Cute argument though

So the F35 is just as good for CAS as the A10?

AGAIN... the F-35 isn't intended to be the full replacement for the A-10... the A-10 only does appx 20-30% of our CAS missions and that percentage would be filled by a combination of gunships, fighters, helos, etc...

But that doesn't fit your narrative.

It was a simple question. Put some Jameson in your coffee and relax, cowboy.

The F35 is probably far superior from a capability standpoint. The A10 is oldddddd and the F35 is definitely more athletic and far more advanced.

There's still a place for something that you can easily support from a forward operating base. Affordability and simplicity is part of supportability and the A10 kicks the F35's arse in that category.

Really?

So, we're never going to have actual battles again? I disagree. There is a continual need for close air support and the A-10 does it better than anything else we have. Why not keep it around? We still have to have the capacity for soldiers in the field to do their job and not get overrun. The A-10 ensures that, is durable, and is cheap.
