Just add another lane bro

Why go to all this trouble for just one lane?
If they do it they should go ahead and add 3 or more new lanes to each side.

Also we need two ( 2 ) new lanes on I-12 ,each way from the split to the Mississippi border.

A majority of our traffic comes from big trucks, and a majority of the big trucks go through our city only to continue on to i-12.

You are not only absolutely correct, you are also one of the few people to ever mention this on TD.

No need to speculate, there already proof, it's called I-12 westbound into Baton Rouge. When they added the third lane 20 years late, 2 lanes of traffic were backing up past Walker in the AM. Once it was completed 3 lanes of traffic back up past Walker in the AM.

People don't have the foresight to stay the frick out of the right lane when approaching an overpass because just maybe there's merging traffic on the other side that could be going a solid 45mph when entering onto the interstate.

But there will be one more lane for young idiots to weave in and out of at 90mph.

There never will be an actual fix to the interstate at I10 bridge because the genuineness that originally built it decided to make it a 45 degree on and off ramp to enter or exit the bridge. This means all traffic, especially big trucks, have to slow down to 25-35mph to do both and will always cause bottlenecks. Only real solution is another bridge or completely changing the way we enter/exit the bridge but we all know that will never happen in our lifetime.

Easiest reasonable thing to do to help traffic in br is to remove the majority of traffic lights on airline highway so traffic can actually move. Airline was supposed to be the bypass.

If you want more then widen the median (there is plenty of right of way) and install median u turns, maybe a single point urban interchange or 2.

Dirty little secret: Increasing lanes of traffic has very little affect on actual traffic.

But no one can tell me increasing I-10 from 1 lane to 2 coming eastbound off the bridge won't help a good bit.

I don’t believe that.

If they can fix the angles and lack of shoulders - they will cut accidents significantly and reduce traffic tie ups.

I noticed in the layout plans that they are adding an additional lane but are making the deck wide enough to add another later. No point in doing that now until they figure out how to widen the bridge.
