Nor should you, the best manual 4 door BMW is the E60 M5:
The E60 M5 has a great engine (V10) and good styling but thats pretty much it. The manual option is the same transmission that the E46 M3 had (2000-06) and BMW pretty much only did that for us Americans who still enjoy shifting gears. The M5 also is very heavy and it shows during a track day or heavy cornering/braking. Also, gas mileage is a joke, 8-10mpg. I mean the E9x M3 isn't much better at 12-16mpg but still its better not to mention the M3 is a great handling car on the street or track. Lets not even get into a maintenance comparison, the E60s I know seem like they are always in the shop for something.
I feel the E60 M5 has too many cons compared to the E9x M3. It was a good car when it came out but I feel like their is better options out there, even in the same brand (which yes I know the OP said he didn't want a 3 series but I don't see the M3 as just a 3 series).

The wheels on that Insignia look cool. You have to get the Regal GS package to get them.
