Groups of people asking for money at red lights= Trashy.

Firefighters? Trashy.

Firefighters asking for donations at red lights=?

Encountered this today at Perkins/Essen intersection.

Were they using the empty boots to collect the donations? That's pretty trashy

Rule of thumb:

If you have to ask, you already know.

Sorry, it was supposed to be

Firefighters= Not Trashy. Used the does-not-equal sign and forgot TD converts it to a question mark.

That Burger King is trashy, but the Taco Bell across Perkins isn't trashy

That's the official OT ruling btw

Yup, five or six of them. Half of them walked around with empty boots, while the other half held signs asking for MDA donations.

Right? That's why I am conflicted by the firefighters using the same tactics to collect donations. They shouldn't have to resort to intersection collections.

To remember the firemen after 9/11. First time I saw that with them standing with the boot. People purposely making left turns they did not need to make to hand $20 bills. I remember cursing debit cards and the fact that I only had a $10.

One of those few 'Merica moments.

I usually give to Veterans and Firefighters

Kids asking to go on a trip or travel baseball teams? frick off. Have a car wash, sell candy, etc. Work for your money and I'll buy something, but I won't just hand you money for nothing unless you do or have done service for the community. Cops can frick off too, they give chicken shite tickets so that's their fund raiser.

Raising money for sick/disabled children with no ulterior motive really doesn't seem to be trashy. Begging for money to take your baseball team to Cooperstown, on the other hand...

That's want I want to figure out. What defines the Trash line? Is it the group, the method, or a combination of the two?

First thing to me would be the motivation. What are they asking for my money for? MDA is a pretty legit charity, and something like 75% of their donations go towards their mission. Most charities are considered "good" if they are at or above 60%. TIFWIW
