If you don't have big bucks to spend, go to J Crew or jcrew.com and buy a Ludlow model, if you aren't sure of your size, talk to one of their people over the phone, they can help. After it comes in, find a good tailor - if you live in a decent size city, shouldn't be hard to find. There is no substitute for good fit, and that doesn't mean just getting the sleeves the right length. The J Crew fabrics are nice and the cut is modern, but timeless (lapels aren't overly skinny, arm holes are cut high, low gorge with a nice button stance). If you are only buying one suit, buy Navy or dark grey and stick to solids or muted patterns.

Speaking of suits...

Where can I get an athletic cut since most don't carry the jacket and pant combo that I require.

Anywhere. They will likely charge like $50 extra for separates

Most don't match texture, style or color.

The last time I was suit shopping, there was one in the store that they could adjust for me.. One.

Not much of a selection.
