Not really true if you stay in touch with people after you graduate. I work with a bunch of guys that were in my Fraternity and it helped to have that connection for me to get my current job. Heck, these guys weren't even in my chapter.

Truth of the matter is it doesn't matter what fraternity anyone is in. I was a Pike at south Alabama. Were we the biggest and baddest fraternity? No. Doesn't matter though. What mattered is those are the people I felt more comfortable with and grew great friendships with.
I didn't "pay for my friends". I paid for our house and to have parties and to do philanthropy. I get sick of people who make the statement that you paid for your friends. If you weren't in a fraternity, that is your choice and it's all good. I bet you paid at bars and other places to hang out with your friends too. Same thing.
My son is a legacy if he wants to be but if he chooses another fraternity or to not be in one at all is fine with me.
