It wasn't all that long, but it was absurd: We waited over an hour for the catering truck to show up before a flight between DFW and Shreveport. The flight itself only took 30 minutes. Gotta be able to serve that Dr Pepper and bag of pretzels over the Sabine River.

I've been relatively fortunate. Only 2 and a half hours. However, the delay was while waiting on a plane on the tarmac all that time. As soon as we boarded, a storm moved into the destination and we were not allowed to leave the tarmac or deplane.

14 hours in airport. Then it was finally cancelled until the next day. So about 24 total hours. United sucks.

Left KC for DFW about 01:00, pilot advised tornadic winds at dfw, we circled Tulsa for a few hours then landed in Tulsa and confined to plane while we sat on hot tarmac for over five hours. Was midnight before I got to Dallas motel room.
DFW airport tower was damaged by the storm though.
Oh, and they would not serve alcohol during that tarmac time.

5 hours. but i had to sit in the plane the whole time. storms made it to where we were going to have to circle for 2-3 hours and we didn't have the gas, so we had to land in a podunk town 45 minutes away and pay for the gas through alternative means since SW doesn't land there normally.

Was flying from Houston to New Orleans once and as we were circling Lake Pontchartrain to line up with the runway the pilot veered off due to bad weather. We then landed in Gulf Port to refuel. 2 hours later (not allowed to get off plane), we take off again to find out that they must fly north to Jackson, west to Shreveport, south to Beaumont, then back to New Orleans because they put way too much fuel on the plane and had to lighten the make the landing.
All-in-all was about a 6 hour flight from Houston to New Orleans.

12 hours; DFW. Huge storms in the area, and to top it off, I had a final at 8:00 AM the next day. Barely made it in time.

I would have lost my shite if this happened to me. If anything, they should give everyone on that flight free booze. At least with my 12 hour delay, I could get booze at the airport bar.
