Closing on a house in br today and I want to get a powered gate for my driveway. Does anybody have any recommendations?
Around 8ft gate and then maybe another 10 ft or so of the same fence to replace a wooden section.
TIA

We used Guardian Gates (Craig is the owner) for cedar fencing on the sides and across the backyard. He installed a metal automatic gate across the driveway and across the front sides of the house. He and his crew did a good job.

I was gonna make my own. It isn't hard, and any decent GC should be able to do it

How much did that run you?

Automated Access Gates in BR.

I don't have the bid in front of me, but I think the 12 foot wide gate, opener, gate latch and keypad on a post were around $1,500 or so. I think the gates with opener at Guardian Gates start around $1,200. Hope this helps.

Ha. He recently bid me a gate and the verbal quote was $5k for a 14 foot rolling gate with a little bit of ornamentation and a privacy screen on the back. The final written quote showed up at $8,900.
I was . I asked what changed between the day he was on site and when he wrote it up, he just said that gates are expensive. Not sure how a 12" is $1,200 and a 14" is $8K.

I don't know if it accounts for the big price difference, but ours is a swing gate rather than rolling.

I hope that is it. I am getting a rebid on a swing gate. No way I am dropping $9k on a gate.

You got electricity at the gate location?

Who the hell quoted $9k?

Good price. The control board alone for a GTO system is $300 (pretty much universal) each arm is $175.
Gates that Open is my go to brand. (I repair electric gates, I don't handle install) They make a lot of the actuators, arms and boards that other companies use.
I know to just change the control board and drive limit switches on a system is close to $600(dual arm). So for the entire system at $1500 that is a good price installed.

What's the difference, quality and longevity wise, between a roller and a swing gate?

Napoleon- you in BR? We have a dual arm GTO system. This winter one side started not closing. It would open fine but not close. Seems to be working better now that it has warmed up some. But I need to have someone come check it out.
