Not saying it's this in your case, but I've seen where lightning hit a house and fried wires internally. Since one that was fried was and outside outlet tied into internal lights/outlets and they were fried too, I figured it hit the one on the outside and traveled from there.
Good luck.

Couldn't drop that new record to sell at the gas station?

No, and on top of that I had to buy new equipment to run a legit DAW on. Plus had to buy another triple rectifier and deal with people who were already frustrated with an ongoing delay.

So now I have almost an ocd habit of unplugging everything in there when it's not in use.

Lightning hit very close to our house on March 28,2014. Close enough to do a large amount of damage. It hot about 430 in the morning and scared the hell out of all of us. The first strike set off car alarms. No big deal.
The second strike cause a sizzling noise in the attic and the smoke alarms went off. When it was all said and done it we replaced the electronic on 2 AC units,5 tvs , all the direct tv stuff, phones, land melted the plastic coating on the ward flex gas line. Be thankful your family is safe . Looking back on everything that happened we are lucky to have our home still standing. The gas line part of it could have gotten ugly.

Major props to all for proper spelling.

Many morons, even newspaper writers, spell it "lightening" these days.

Do you have a garage? When lightning hit our neighbors house we had to have them replace the motor on our garage door opener. Also had to replace our modem and have our alarm system worked on. It is a pain, Best of luck.

Open carport and a manual roll up door for my shop. But yes, it fried our wifi router and our alarm system as well as the Direct TV boxes. Fortunately we had the protection plan from direct tv and they are shipping us new boxes.
