Place in Venezuela, thought it was kind of neat. Lightning storms on average 297 days of the year.

I freaking hate lightning. My most feared natural occurrence.

I was never afraid of lightning until I lived in Arizona. The part of the state I lived in had crazy lightning storms in the spring and it's terrifying if you get caught out in an open valley.

There was a storm in the mid 80's (in Louisiana) that had a half dozen strikes in my yard. It was freaky but scarred me for life. I still have dreams about being trapped in a small building surrounded by lightening strikes.

We rarely have it here. Maybe once every 3-4 years. The first time I saw it, kids about 6-8 years old were freaking out because they had no idea of what it was

Same here, and even then it's a handful of strikes.

In 3rd grade. We went on a 3 week trip out west. We went to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and we were waiting for the bats to come out. It was a nice sunny afternoon/evening. Then, a park ranger comes up and tells everyone to leave immediately. There's a storm coming. Everyone was confused but we left. As we pulled back out onto the high way, I look back and the sky is dark green and lighting is striking in 3-4 places up on the hill we had been on.

I was watching the show Africa last night on Netflix and they said an area in the Congo had the most lightning in the world.

But I just found this
quote:

DR Congo in Central Africa is known as the thunderstorm capital of the world where the mountain village of Kifuka, with 158 lightning flashes per square kilometre each year, was thought to be the most electric place on Earth. That was until more detailed data was analysed.

Craziest lighting storm I ever saw was between Bisbee and Sierra Vista. It lasted for about 2.5 hrs with no more than 10 seconds between strikes.

Bangladesh - 65 dead in 4 days

Tying to decide if this was a good thing or a bad thing.
