Serious question.

I'm 34. No serious girlfriend, no kids, no ex-wife.

I don't make much money, but love what I do.

My mother died of a heart defect. At 43(same one Wally Pontiff had).

Her mom just turned 90 and has buried two kids and a husband.

I figure I have ten years left, maybe 60.

But I drink and smoke(my mom rarely drank, and never smoked. My 90 year old grandmother smokes 2 packs of Marlboro red 100s a day.) I enjoy my life. I have fun.

My friends who are married keep asking me when I'll settle down and have a family.

Am I wrong for not wanting that?

PS: I am drunk right now.

Don't put a limit on your life. Don't think like that.

Just live.

If you don't want to get married and have kids and do that life, then don't. You don't have to. But don't make a decision like that based off of your perceived life expectancy.

Sorry about your mom. Seems like you have a good grandmother.

You're the man.

Night.

No you're not wrong. Do what makes you happy, not what makes your friends happy.

I do think you shouldn't smoke a lot though, it is unhealthy and statiatically reduces your lifespan. And every year you live on this earth is valuable and something to be thankful for.

Its not set in stone, I don't think that there is a specific plan for everyone to follow.

Carve your path and do the best with what you have.

Life is what you choose to make it. If everyone have the same goals, standards, or perspectives, everyone would be the same.

Some choose marriage and kids.

Some choose single lifestyles.

Some choose religious paths.

Some want to make money.

Some want to save whales/trees.

Some want to solve the mysteries of space.

We all have limited time and it's running as we speak. Don't spend it trying to get approval from others because 15 years after we die, no one will remember who we are.

Actually living makes life great.

There's horrifying, thrilling, scary and beautiful things and life and you have to experience them all. Don't be afraid of enjoying yourself and what makes you happy. Frick your friends for putting societies expectations on you to settle down and get married.

A man doesn't need a woman to be happy. If you need one to make
You happy that's fine too. But if you wanna be 80 fricking years old smoking cigs, single and doing what you want then who cares?

Throw perceived life expectancy out the window unless you've been diagnosed with something. Just b/c your mom died young doesn't mean your going to. I got into my first funk after I got married and had kids, mostly b/c I was way more tired all the time. I'm good now, still have young ones, but literally had to wake up one day and realize I don't wanna miss their childhood having felt miserable all the time b/c of work. I cut back my auto glass work and slowed down overtime at fire dept to be off more and of course felt better. I've got many friends who don't wanna have kids and some who don't wanna get married and they are all very happy people, you don't have to be married and have kids to be happy, marriage and kids doesn't have to make you unhappy either. It's all what you make of it.

What makes life good?

Having a relationship with God and Jesus. It gives your life meaning and answers the question, what makes life good?

Healthy relationships
Being healthy
Spending time with loved ones
Sporting events
Fishing
Starting a family
Treating others better than you treat yourself
Kindness to strangers
A movie and popcorn
Special surprises for someone you care about
Yard work
A career
Helping people
