I've been considering an inversion table and most of the googling just shows up ads and odd websites pushing them.

Just wanting to get opinions of those who have them.

Are they really a good thing for your back?

Are there features to look for in getting one/ Is one better than another?

How long do you use them? How often?

Are there adverse effects?

TIA

I read online somewhere that if you have pain caused by lower back compression that you shouldn't use the inversion table.

Seems like it'd be easier to 69 your boyfriend the old fashion way.

But hey, variety is the spice of life.

I inverted your mom on a table. It was great for my back, and there were no adverse effects.

Ironman Gravity 4000

Got one and it's easy to assemble. I use it as needed. Started using it once a day for 5-10 minutes. Now I use it about once a week for 5-10 minutes. It helps my L-4/5 discs decompress and relieves pain.

Will do more damage than good. Had what turned out to be a heirnated disc in my lower back and I tried an inversion table that my friend had and it made the pain worse. Eventually had a microdiscetomy surgery on my L4 and L5 discs.

Yeah that's what I remember. If you have a herniated disc it will just make it worse. Thank you for clarifying.

what? robot reviews? I value yalls reviews a step above amazon's.

Also, when would any benefit occur after using one of the inversion tables? right away? or months or weeks later?

I had one, it was ok for temporary back relief but the pressure it puts on the head/brain was not worth it to me.

If you want something to help back pain, look into a reverse hyper machine that was invented by Louie Simmons, owner of west side barbell. Was created to provide decompression and it does just that when used correctly and also strengthens the lower back and hamstring/glutes.

Belt squats work well for decompression too.

Just call it a matrix and get on with solving the problem.

Goddam "new" math and it's less threatening terms.

Whats your ultimate goal?
Do you have back pain now?

I have degeneration in my L5-S1. When It starts to bother me I stretch and use my Wobble Chair. Helps more than anything.

My cousin bought of those inversion tables for hi wife for Christmas a few years, he put it together half drunk and decided to try it out. Long story short, he got stuck on it....luckily had his phone in his pocket, had to call his brother in law to come rescue him.

My uncle has one. He said it helps "OK". I've heard some people say it helps more than others.

Seems like it would feel pretty good to shift the weight off those discs that are messed up. I find getting into a swimming pool or the River to help a lot.

He was also telling a story about a guy that lives out near where we do that apparently slipped out of his ankle straps while inverted and crushed his neck/back/spinal cord or whatever and is now paralyzed from the waist down.

The guy did win a big settlement from the manufacturer though.

I had wanted to get one for awhile, and finally got a chance to try one out at a relative's house one year.

Don't know if I was using it wrong, but yeah, the pressure and blood rushing to my head just wasn't worth the back relief it was giving me.

Got one from my wife for Christmas this year. Have severe degeneration in L2-L3.

I use it a couple times a week and it seems to help. It's weird as hell getting used to the blood rushing to your head and even worse when trying to straighten back up.

Overall, I'd rate it a B in terms of pain relief. Not amazing, but it helps.
