He makes a mistake in the game and the coach is cursing at him and grabs his facemask. Do you have an issue with it or do you just say that's just part of football??? Let's say he is in 8th grade for convo, just turning 14

Football kind of sucks that way. Way more permissive of unnecessary physical contact outside the lines.

Think of your favorite world class golfer. Nothing like that happens or would be tolerated in golf.

Depends on how severe it was and how old the kid is. 8th grade and up and not whipping him around? meh

Do I get involved when my kid makes a mistake and his coach corrects him?

Even questioning things like this is why our kids are pussies.

ETA: I’m assuming this is middle school and up.

An age would have been just a little important for your topic

Are you a fricking pussy, or does your wife run your family ? Kids need it and respect it. I wouldn't care if they kicked my son in the arse. And yes, he played football in H.S.

High school or college. Grabbing facemask to get attention... no problem. Younger, and we have a problem. Or even older if he is abusive with it, jerking him around.. we have a problem

I’ll never forget my junior high coach throwing a ball at the back of a lineman’s head and yelling, “ YOU DUMB shite!”

Fired it at the kid’s head.

Did my son just miss his assignment and get star quarterback Lance Harbor’s knee all torn up?

Mine is playing 7th grade QB so he handles the ball every play and has had some terrible throws and other mishaps.

The coach has every right to bust his arse a little and I'm ok with it.

If he ever put his hands on him we may have a problem though

Go talk to your wife to see if it's OK. If you are upset b/c the coach grabbed your son by the facemask or yelled at him you are setting him up for failure in life. Life is tough, let him learn now, you won't be around to baby him when he's an adult.

It’s just a part of football.

Having said that, I would definitely have a private “chat” with the coach after the game at Sonic.

What exactly would be your issue with it? Is it that you don’t like someone correcting your kid or your don’t like someone ELSE correcting your kid.

Coach was just trying to get the kid's attention. Some are hard to reach. If you have a problem, call the coach out to Sonic and take care of him.

That kind of thing is just part of football. When I played coaches would routinely grab our facemasks but I never remember it hurting, they just would hold it straight and yell at you while you were inches away and looking straight at them. I also had a line coach who would stand behind linemen who were slow firing off the line and would either kick you in the arse or slap your arse with the clipboard. It sure got your attention and would make you fire off the line faster LOL.

Like was said above, grabbing is different than pulling/whipping the head around. That I would have an issue with it if the coach was abusive or looked like he could injure my son. Other than that, let the coach, coach.
