This seems like a big wall should be involved.

Can't fix it if the population refuses reasonable measures. It's not like the people of St. George started out as wanting to incorporate. They were laughed at when they simple asked for some control over their schools.

This is a big problem in Baton Rouge. Certain elements constantly shout down any movement towards progress and then when those actually trying to make things better get frustrated, those same elements crucify them for trying to leave.

Certain elements are fearful of progress. Fearful of what it might uncover, fearful that they won't like what they see in the mirror.

It starts with the metro council and school board. Most of them are clowns. Clean them out. Then, run a competent, rational person for mayor and show up to vote.

That's ridiculous. It starts with the people in Baton Rouge... If you take the EBR students and send them to live Oak, central, zachary, etc.... those schools would suck, homicides would increase, drug arrests and crime would increase in those areas as well. It's not rocket science.

Well stated.

It is really the largest issue with people running things in BR and those who support them. It is their way or the highway.

And when those they are siphoning from finally choose the highway, they are too god damn stupid to understand why they weren't just content with getting shafted.

It is never their fault when people leave. It's racism.

Too late for that. It's I-10 now. I-12 after the split.

Homeless people bite all the time. That's why you gotta throw the money at them.

It's too late. Only a massive natural disaster can save you now. Need high water levels to wash out the cockroaches so you can start from scratch. NOLA got lucky.

Somebody needs to get the mayor of Birmingham, AL on the hotline and ask him how he was able to turn his city around. The two cities mirror one another in so many ways, and Birmingham has undergone a remarkable resurgence in recent years. Crime is down, new businesses are moving into areas that were blighted for years, their downtown is thriving, etc. He is the black mayor of a predominately black city surrounded by suburbs in which the residents are mostly white. Sound familiar? For years Birmingham suffered from white flight largely due to poor public schools and high crime. Eventually, somebody had enough and started a campaign to take back the city from the thugs. The big difference here is that Mayor Bell was committed to working with local law enforcement whereas Mayor Broome has chosen to demonize them.

The problem with BR is that these individuals don't want law and order. They want free reign. They want to be free of consequences for their actions.

Law and order is a racist concept.

Not only is she demonizing them, her and her cohorts have the same message - stop arresting black people for breaking the law.

I'm pretty sure that the people of Birmingham aren't exactly fans of the local politics up there.

This tells you all you need to know about the state of BR. A sitting Baton Rouge judge circulated this ad around social media and won re-election.

Wasn't there a case where Trudy (or maybe another BR judge) sentenced a convicted murderer to probation and "acts of kindness"?
