Once got punched in the jaw trying to save my drunk cousin from getting his arse kicked. Didn't even see it coming.
Some bystander saw the whole thing and scuffled with the guy who hit me. We ended up drinking a beer at his truck after it was all over

There was indeed a bar called Faps. I was thinking that it was across the street near the train track in a place that's had 40 names.
Fred's has been around since at least '84,maybe a year or two before. Could have been Faps.
Best story I have from that era was about 5 miles down the road. Right at the Parish line was a place called "Ruth & Jim's Country Place." Even had ads in the Reveille about "pizza,sandwiches,etc." What it really was,was a strip joint which were all over that area about that time.
Drove by there one day and the sign said "Ruth & --- Country Place." Asked what the heck that sign was about. Ruth had caught Jim messing around with one of the dancers and shot him in the rear and sent him backing.
There aren't even cement blocks left from that place now.

My friend walked out of Sports with a drink in his hand and there were a bunch of cops outside waiting for what he assumed was open container violators. He just dropped his drink. Didn't work, they confronted him and it ended up with him in the paddy wagon. On the way to the wagon one cop was tweaking his arm that he had had recently surgically repaired. He asked multiple times to let up on his arm, didn't happen. They threw him in the wagon uncuffed. He just sat there and stewed in his anger. He decided next cop to open that door was getting punched. Well, it happened and it just so happened to be the cop that tweaked his arm. He said he flew out of there, like a giant crow hop, and punched that cop as hard as he could in the face. They beat the ever loving shite out of him. Not the last, or first time, he was beaten by cops though. It's just funny to picture this one.
