What is the best way to handle this situation?

Your son, who is 17 and going to be a senior in high school has a pool party in the middle of a Wednesday. Parents are at the house with the kids (30 or so). There is underage drinking going on. The neighbor gets pissed at all of the cars in the street and calls the Po-Po. No loud music. No disrespect. Just cars in the street. You tell all of the kids they have to go as The po-po is on the way. As a parent, do you stay at the house and talk to the cops or do you walk next door and wait them out so you wouldn't be charged with providing alcohol to 30 minors? Would they be able to go into the house where a few stragglers remain without a warrant? If this was your house, what would you do?

I wouldn't allow a party of underage kids getting hammered at my house strictly from the point of liability. IT's not worth the risk, because you're fricked if one of the lil bastards goes and gets in a wreck.

So you let 30 minors drive home after drinking? Good call.

Remembering my high school days this happened pretty often and the parents never seemed to get into any trouble.

First of all, I wouldn't have underage drinking at my house.

But I would stay and talk to the cops and take the heat before I let 17 year olds drive home under the influence.

Talk to the police. Have respect for their position but remain firm and in control of the situation. Explain that you will answer any questions but that you ain't harboring any foogitives and you won't put up with any of their bullshite.

If they get out of hand, a quick pop on the nose will show the police that you're in charge.
