Looking for something that could go well with suits and more business casual. Also durable - not the fake lather coating that cracks up 3 months into wearing that seems to be what the retail stores are selling.

Good luck. Even "Genuine calfskin leather" isn't really anymore. At best it is a super thin leather split with a nylon backing and a particle leather core that will break down in less than a year.

I got tired of buying belts, and I already do some leather work, so I made my own.

You didn't mention budget. If you really want a belt to last and look good doing it buy a quality one made from Horween shell cordovan. Authentic Horween from Chicago is what you want. I like belts made by Carmina.

Torino Leather

Torino Leather Company. They're a wholesale supplier to Saks Fifth Avenue based in Jefferson Parish. Join their email list and you'll get notice of their semiannual sales (in person) where you can get exotics that sell for $300 - $400 in stores for $50, plus you can get all kinds of awesome leather for everyday use for $10 - $20. I have bison, caiman, lizard, ostrich and snakeskin, plus really nice varieties of calfskin (saddle, suede, etc.) for everyday use.

Dude has a awesome YouTube channel where he cuts boots in half to show the qualities of many manufacturers.

I like RA’s vids. Just fast forward to the last 2 minutes for the actual cut in half info and skip all the yammering beforehand.
