A pitbull attacked my wife as she was walking our dog back in May. I intervened and while trying to restrain the pitbull, broke my finger. My Attorney is suing the other dog's Owner's homeowners insurance. Is there a guideline for settlements stemming from pet liability?

You should require the dog's head as part of the settlement.

your attorney won't be happy you're posting about it online

Your lawyer can answer this for you. Its why you're paying him. He will most likely go for the maximum amount of coverage the home owner has. He will pay your medical bills, himself, and give you what is left over if it is any.

Why anyone would own this breed is beyond me. Walking lawsuit as Op has just proven.

Lots of Homeowners insurance excludes pet liability. Good luck.

I think some homeowners policies will not cover you specifically for having a pit bull.

and in that case the dog owner would be liable, and if the customer didn't know the insurance agent who sold the policy to the homeowner would have an E&O claim!

I mean, take the hero sex, but I would be pissed and want my pound of flesh.

If he goes over there and beats the owners arse and shoots the dog, which is justified IMO, He would get sued.
