Most places that work on lawn equipment are a little slow this time of year. They will probably give you good deal and if you live close enough may pick it up and then bring it back (as mine did.)

Its always quite the bummer to get maybe two or three mows in in April and then the first week of May you have problems and have to wait six weeks.

Something to ponder.

I'll clean the carb and stuff for you if you bring it over.

Also, should I weed and feed my lawn?

I assume the same people who service mowers could also service your generator

I wouldn't weed and feed yet if the grass is still dormant.

ETA May do that, it's been sitting for a long while.

bought a reel mower for my yard and only took 10 minutes to cut. doesnt cut the best but it gets the job done. plus not having to get it serviced is a nice touch

Your yard must be fricking tiny.

Also, servicing a lawnmower takes all of 15 minutes.

That's why I asked where to get it done, since we're already talking mower service.

The Ace on Highland @ Kenilworth does their own work in house on small engines.

I've had a few reel mowers, husqvarna, and 2 brills

retail for the 1st two and got the last one at a second hand shop that cut better than the other two
for a whopping 10 dollars...compared to near 500 for the 1st two!!!

it still cuts great!!! it musta had been sharpened by an old timer that really knew his stuff

If you know what you're doing. I enjoy yard work and have a show stopper lawn. You subconsciously hear the "Master's Theme Music" when you drive past my house.

But it'd take me 10 hours to change the oil and sparkplugs on that thing. Plus its 7 yrs old and I bought it at this place and they replaced some bearings that I couldn't have fixed in 20 yrs.

Try it when the lawn is dry. Also may try and go to a local golf course and talk with the mechanic about grinding the reel. I sharpen many homeowners reels for $50 a pop.
