Is there a reason in particular Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings?
They opted out of it back in the 60s because of the heat.

I am because I only go out when it is dark during the summers here because of the heat and it already gets dark at 9.....if it didn't get dark until 10 it would ruin the little social life I have during the summers.

IF you're referring to MLK Day:
Because as a federal holiday it only affected about half the population of the state; lots of people live in very rural areas. I left AZ in '95 (I was stationed there for 8 yrs and loved it).

Not when the highs in the summer can easily get up to 110-120. You look forward to the dark in heat like that.
Spent a few weeks there in July of 2010. 115 felt like 80 here and barely broke a sweat being in the sun all day.
I kept remarking that I only had a few droplets of sweat near my hairline

Well yeah the humidity is lower than the south so it isn't as bad. However...120 is hot no matter what the humidity level is
But yes, you do adjust easily to the heat.

This is a pain in the arse especially when you're working with people across all 4 time zones. They never know what time it is in AZ. They need to sync up with the rest of the country one way or another.

You realize AZ isn't the only state that doesn't do DST? Hawaii doesn't and other states are considering opting out as well.

Hawaii is like 8 time zones away so no one knows what time it is there anyway. AZ is landlocked.

That's God's way of telling you to move.

And 98 degrees with 95% humidity is better? Also, you realize that there will still be the same amount of daylight?

One upside would be not having to get up super early to go hiking in the summer. I will get up early enough to be on the trails by 4:30 so that I can beat the heat. Am done by 6-6:30 am and the temps at that time are sometimes already upper 90s at that point.

So changing the time of day also changes the temperature? I think we just solved global warming.

Again...if AZ did DST...it would still be light outside after 9pm.
There is this crazy thing called the sun...whenever it's not out in the sky ...the temps aren't as high. I know, it's just magical.

Wouldn't this give all the black people y'all hate less time to commit crime in the dark?

How are y'all making the sun not come out for the same amount of time each day, whether it's an hour earlier or later? And what does that have to do with hating black people?

On the longest day of the year, for instance—the summer solstice—the sun rises in Anchorage at 4:20 a.m. and sets at 11:42 p.m
Anchorage, and Fairbanks Alaska says FU. lol

You've never lived in AZ have you? Because in AZ they have a black sun (you can't see it but it's there) & it's 100 fricking degrees at 2 AM

It's not a pain at all. Whenever I schedule a call with someone I just give them the time in EST or if they are international I use GMT

I understand that but I don't do business with anyone in Hawaii. However, it's very annoying when I get calls from someone in Toronto at 6 a.m. because they don't know what time is in AZ.
