Haha, everyone on the OT would win the "Father of the Year" award.

So you're trying to justify being largely out of your son's life during the summer with the fact that you can afford to arrange it that way? And also, of all the camps that you want to send your kid to, only one involves you spending time with him and that's just for one weekend?
Why are you depriving your ex-wife of quality time spent with her son? He's just as much her's and he is yours. She doesn't work, you and your new wife both work, so you instead give him to your parents often instead of sending him to your ex-wife. Seems to me if she isn't fit to be a good mother and to care for him, you wouldn't trust sending him to her during the summer in the first place so why don't y'all just alternate custody to make it fair to everyone involved?

"Ship to his moms" is more like he'll spend 1 week there and 1 week with me. I can't really keep him during the week because I work, so he will be with my parents.

I wouldn't because I'm not a father. Yet even I know that the OP is a shitbag for wanting to do what he's talking about.

Well I can respect that. But then the question must be asked: why aren't y'all already doing that?

You have bad comprehension skills, especially since not a whole lot of info was not given in my story. Do you have kids, if so what are your plans with them this summer? Is it to take 2 months of vacation off from work so you can spend quality time with them?

I'm not a father either, but it's funny how self-righteous everyone is. Nothing new of course.

But seriously, this is the kind of shite that leads to children having issues. Daddy being over here while mommy is over there. Going the grandparents house another week. There's no consistency and no place of comfort for the child. Divorce does terrible things to children

Not doing that because she just had a baby last October, and she doesn't have time for her son like she once had. 2nd, she lives 25 mins away from his school and that wouldn't make sense to alternate him during the school year.

A lot of non-parents telling parents how to be a parent in this thread.

fricking know-it-all OT.

FWIW, during the summer when I was younger, my mom would drop me off at the club in the morning and pick me up after work. I played golf, swam, and hung out with friends all day. Best summers ever.

Yes, the OT is special bunch. A thread that was supposed to be about the Last Day of School and what the kids will be up to this summer and 20 minutes later, I don't think one answer was given.
I could change to title to "Bad Father for the Summer Thread".

Haha, wut? I can't tell if you're serious here or not. I'm admitting that I'm not a father so yes, of course I don't know exactly what I would do in this situation. I am, however, saying that I wouldn't be looking to "ship" him off to his moms for the summer.

Also, you're saying I have bad comprehension skills -- you quoted me saying I'm not a father then turned around and asked if I have kids and asked if I plan on taking 2 months off from work to spend time with them.

Not sure why you're addressing me. I was making a comment about divorced parents and the impact on children. Would you disagree with my assessment?

I made no comment about this guy as a father.

happens every time. College kids and new teachers who don't realize people work during the summer telling working dads to spend time with his kid during the summer days. It is rich.
