Looking for opinions in places to stay for the family. Long weekend getaway. Loga vista nice?
1 or 2 br is all that we need. Pool and access to lake.

Or any other lake type places you recommend within 6 hr drive of Lafayette? Not Toledo bend.
Thanks

I don't have any experience on lake travis.... But I just got back from a weekend in new braunfels. I loved it over there. Greune, TX is right next door with a nice "downtown" area with tons of shops and some good food. In new braunfels is schlitterbahn if you want to do that. You can also float the comal, which was a great time. There are tons of condo type place along the river that you can rent.

I'd suggest taking a look at VRBO.

ETa: also look into the T Bar M resort in new braunfels. There is a pool and other activities for the kids right there on site

Has to be a ton of nice lakes closer than 6 hours. Only been to the Oasis overlooking lake Travis...nice area.

I absolutely love New Braunfels. Schlitterbahn, Comal County Rodeo, Coopers BBQ, tubing the Comal, dancing in Gruene, Natural Bridge Caverns, etc. An awesome weekend of fun.

Needed a thread like this. I am going to Austin this weekend and am looking for some ideas on things to do with a teenage son- some of the things mentioned here sound like fun.

Lakeway Resort and spa is nice. I stayed there for a work function a few months ago and very affordable, although the lake has come up quite a bit in the last couple of months. I may have gotten the 'Lake Travis is 65ft low rate'.

If your looking to just relax where you're at, Lake Travis is nice, but anywhere you stay is going to be a pretty good drive to anything city related. New Braunfells has more options (waterpark, float the river, shops, restaurants, etc)

Of course, if you're trashy, there's always the short drive to New Roads and False River.

Lake sucks, it's still low. Nothing to see here, please go elsewhere.

Why the hell is everyone coming to Austin?
