We paid to evacuate for Delta in Houston.
We back home with electric and internet in LC now.
Just got to figure it out Stout. My work did finally ask me if I needed anything and I just told them “you pay me what you pay me to figure these issues out. Not bring them to you.” 3 weeks later they gave me another hefty 5% raise.

My home was destroyed by Laura. I'm working up near Pittsburgh and was going to come home after Laura. But, I make a decent wage and would have no work back home. It was determined that my grown sons would take care of the work/labor that had to be done right away and my wife could handle insurance and repair contractors.
So, I stayed working to send home as much $ as I can. My wife and son that still lives at home went to stay at my oldest son's apartment. It worked great as a place to sleep/base of operations. Then, Delta hit.
It flooded my son's apartment.
They stayed at a hotel for a couple days, then went back to the apartment to dry it out. Even flooded, it was still in much better shape than our house. Yesterday, the apartment manager let them know they had to be out by Sunday so repairs could be made. They said it would probably take a couple of months.
My family lives and works in Lake Charles. They need to be IN Lake Charles. Problem is, seems there's no places to be had...
In fact, if anyone knows of a place to rent for a little while, I'd appreciate the information.

Springs original price was $1,900/month and increased to $2,400/month after insurance said they had the bill. Fired off an eMail to Corp this morning about the broke down car, stack of mattresses at compactor and pit bulls. The hoops we jumped through were ridiculous : DL for every member of household, Tax returns for every member working(my boyz are unemployed) , add A/I off my homeowners policy, finger and facial I D.

Anytime the government provides funds to help people there will be people who will take advantage of it. Its sad, its a shame, but thats just the facts.
Most people want to go back to their homes. Get back to their routine, back to their life.
You really never know what people are dealing with. In these situations, I think its best to pay no mind to what other people are doing.
Like I said, there are people who take advantage, but there are much bigger entities that steal from the government, waste government money.. I would worry about those first, before these situations.

The whole thing is fricking stupid. Its been 6 weeks, make arrangements or get a place where they are currently and get a job.
If your house is gone, get a damn job where you are and live put the hotel for a while. Its insane to me these people have just sat for the last 6 weeks while getting catered to. frick them, hope they stay in Nola.

No doubt - no imagine if they were doing 50 rooms at each rest stop 2 star hotel around instead of hundreds at these Large urban locations
I was just addressing why properties like intercon or Hilton actually made some sense. They can absorb 6 times what a small select service can and are in a convenient radius to boot.

Lol...I’ve wondered how that person got away with just holding a clip board. They don’t even do traffic control. They have 2 other people for that. It’s normally a girl in a hard hat with a clip board.
