Happy to help. Don't go with UberX when you are in an unfamiliar place or your 1st time. Just go with the regular old Uber, you won't be disappointed

used to go to Yankee games every summer. Stayed by LaGuardia, hotel shuttle to airport, go on bus to harlem I think (I know the bus took us past the Apollo) then subway. It worked pretty well and cheap. I think the trip to times square took 30-45 min and cost less than $10.

Uber Screens the crap out of them and they keep track of all your rides.

Much more likely for that to happen in a regular taxi where there is no record of you being there

Black Car... Thats was the original (only option)

UberX is amateurs trying to make a few extra bucks while Black cars are the professionals

Just get in the taxi line. Don't even think about taking the subway from LGA.

here's my rules for flying to and from NYC:

Newark: NJ Transit to Penn Station ($18)

LaGuardia: taxi ($40ish)

JFK: AirTrain to subway station, A train to lower Manhattan ($8)

All nasty as hell, but cheap. A car service is how I always get to town if you have a few people the price per person is not that much really. Alone or with a group it's better if only from a time standpoint. Flying somewhere and then waiting around for transport to a meeting is dumb and counterproductive.

was just in NYC last weekend and uber wouldn't quote me from the app. they have a price structure there where >11mph its $x/mile and under it's $1/min. guessing either be as to do with local lawmakers price fixing, or uber doing it themselves due to heavy traffic

pricing it out that way would have been about $80 from JFK to midtown Manhattan.

think in a place like NYC with so many public transportation options uber isn't really worth it. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

M60 bus to Astoria Blvd to pick up Q subway train is cheapest way but you need to know what you are doing and not have too many bags to haul on bus and subway.
