Yeah, Lafayette's airport is pretty weak. It's waaaay smaller than baton rouges even.

United Airlines will provide nonstop daily service from the Lafayette Regional Airport to Denver International Airport beginning Aug. 19.
There will be one arriving flight and one departure in a 50-seater plane each day of the week at the regional airport, with the flight leaving Denver at 9:55 a.m. MST and arriving in Lafayette at 1:39 p.m CST. The flight from Lafayette will leave at 4 p.m. CST and arrive in Denver at 5:50 p.m. MST

I don't notice much flying in. When I get dropped off to fly back it is noticeable. LFT could really make a splash by flying past BR's Ryan field. The location is good. The parking is a little land locked and needs to be addressed. Otherwise they have room to grow. Getting a SW airline route or Frontier would be huge.

Yeah, I don't want to be stuck on something this small either. Small planes are more dangerous anyway. I flew on one of these once and it was kind of rickety and had a few questionable moments. I felt cramped as hell too because I'm a tall dude. I'm fine with flying on Southwest out of Nola.

I just flew on one Monday from DFW to BTR and it was a miserable hour. No way in hell could I do it for 3+.

Baton Rouge is in a bad place, Lafayette would probably get SW before BTR because Baton Rougeans have already shown the willingness to drive. SW doesn't care if BTR could support its market, when they can support other ones nearby. Haters.
Its probably time BTR gets a new airport director as well, Anthony Marino has done a good job, but maybe some fresh blood with different relationships can help BTR get more air service.

The flight from lafayette to Denver would probably be a little over 2 hours, maybe 2.5. It would be manageable

I feel like lafayette is much too small of a place for sw to fly out of

yeah, but they would pull from Lake Charles, Alexandria, half of Baton Rouge, and some of Houma/Morgan City.
Baton Rouge would just pull from in town and Lafayette.
Long way off for either city until SW gets way more planes
