Just here to say if you live in Kenner you have to get a Kenner brake tag. You CANNOT go to Metairie which is Jefferson Parish also to get a brake tag. Since when did Kenner become so uppity?

You have to get a tag in your parish. Anyone else that says otherwise is a damn liar.

Orleans has a different tag than most other parishes.

Only some offer two year tags

DEQ Info on Emissions Testing for Non-Attainment Parishes

Louisiana State Police Info on Vehicle Inspections

LDEQ and the LSP are a bunch of damn liars, I guess.

Not in north Louisiana. Up here we don't even have to take our cars in at some places.

Seriously you can go to any place up here and get a sticker. Most places just require you to turn your lights on, show proof of insurance, registration, and drivers license. They don't check tint, emissions, etc......

My tint is too dark. I give a guy $50 for a sticker every year.

Has to be the parish your vehicle is registered in. Had to deal with this bullshite when we moved to Covington and still had our cars registered in BR. Needless to say I went almost 6 months before getting an inspecton due to the hours I was working.

No. It does not.

You had to deal with this because your vehicle was registered in a parish designated as an ozone non-attainment area.

If your vehicle is registered in East Baton Rouge Parish, Ascension Parish, Iberville Parish, or Livingston Parish, you must undergo an inspection in any one of those parishes.

Vehicles registered in Kenner, New Orleans, and Westwego must be inspected in those cities.

Vehicles registered in the 5 parish greater Baton Rouge area can only get inspected in those parishes.

I didn't know this with my first reply. I've learned something for the day.

Back in the day, getting a brake tag ( their name for it) in Orleans Parish was like the Wild Wild West, anything went as long as you were willing to give give one of those $20 handshakes to the right person. I saw some clankers drive off with smoke trailing from their tail pipes, the engines rattling like a tank.... and a bright new brake tag prominently displayed.

Can you get an inspection sticker in any parish or does it have to be the parish you live in?
Five parish area around Baton Rouge require a once a year inspection and if you live in any of the five - will have to have your vehicle inspected in one of those parishes.

Anyone know how bad of a fine I'm looking at for when I finally get a ticket? Been expired since October 2014. I'm not paying $800 to replace my dashboard and faulty check engine light.

It's about $180 for an inspection sticker ticket.
