They say it's ratings driven but I'm pretty sure the SB is big enough to transcend the issues you have on Saturdays.

I think it's because all of the whoopla that leads up to Super Bowl weekend. There's a lot of money moving around on Saturday for the NFL and host city.

Yes they have Saturday night games as soon as college regular season is over, and Saturday playoff games. Obviously not completely apples to apples, but the NFL doesn't have an issue with Saturday games overall it seems.

Host cities do not want to lose influx of money into city by one day

Most owners except local monies

League run by owners who do business with those cities

Super bowl ain't ever moving off of sunday

I can understand that. Not sure how much that changes if people are coming in Thursday for a Saturday game rather than the current model.

If the game is on Sunday they stay until Monday or Tuesday instead of leaving on Sunday if the game was on Saturday.

Maybe Kraft-Heinz was a bit too confident that the Steelers would upset New England and started floating the idea around prior to the AFCCG. Unfortunately, Tom Brady put them in a box where they couldn't go back on their promise to employees

I was thinking more media coverage, but you're probably right regardless.

Would be nice. When I was stationed at Fort Polk in the late 90s, the commanding general made the following Monday a day off.

This is the most unamerican thread of the day...

People asking what day the super bowl falls on... people asking if it's this week or next week.... people asking who is playing.... and people wanting to take days off of work, Wtf?

Election Day first. It's once every 4 years. How this isn't a federal Holiday is mind boggling
