Because if you don't comply with every directive given by an officer, regardless of legality, you're quite likely to be beaten, tased, shot, or at a minimum lose some teeth.

Acting in accord with rights won't necessarily save anyone. Mose LEOs have below average intelligence but also have the cover and ability to kill most citizens.
