Yep. At least half the DWIs from the past few days were from LSP too, not just BRPD. You have to be some kind of stupid to get popped by a trooper.

DWI cop handbook:

Pull over random white person
Walk up to car and ask of they've been drinking
Tell them you smell alcohol and they were swerving
Pressure them into doing FST
Fail them on the FST
Cuff them and you win

Yes, or so he says he is. He is the guy that talks about of fast he drives when he is probably just playing Need For Speed on his PS2.

Not condoing drunk driving. Checkpoints are revenue generators, plain and simple. Their practices are predatory.

I would agree with you if you were talking about speed traps

DWI checkpoints do a public good

Have you ever had a loved one hurt or killed by someone who was stupid and got behind the wheel intoxicated?

It's okay if the practices are predatory when it make the roads safer for everyone else.

At some point its not worth it though. I'm honestly not sure which side of the line checkpoints are.

Wouldn't our country be safer if the cops rummaged through everyones house looking for illegal guns, drugs, terrorist plots, etc?

But what if 1 out of 100 of those DWI stops keeps a fatality accident from happening. I think most people with good values would agree it's worth it.

To answer your second question, yes it would be safer, but that would infringe on rights that we all have. These drivers are driving on public roadways. Huge difference between a public road and someone house.

How many of these people were impaired enough to actually be a legitimate danger to someone on the road? I'd wager close to none. But, hey, the BRPD got their money.

If you BAC is 0.02g% and you are involved in a fatal crash, you can be criminally charged even if it's not your fault.
