RIP

Had a few buddies in Kirby Smith fall 1999 semester. Lots of good stories.

I was in Mcvoy. Talk about a great location, right in the middle of Miller, Herget, and Blake dorms, which were all girl dorms at the time

Will some other building retain the Kirby Smith name?

12th floor "Suite" in 02-03'.

My mom cried when she dropped my off. Not because her only son was going off to college, but because there were prisons with better living conditions than that hell hole. This was during the time of Derrick Todd Lee and everyone has to check-in /check-out. Royally sucked.

Yes. Havent you heard? Lots of buildings are being named after confederate officers nowadays.

Rode out Hurricane Andrew in there. You could see the toilet water moving, but could not feel the building sway.

Loved $5 all you can drink Natural Light keg parties, on Thursday. Beer sucked, but the times were good.

RIP. I'll be watching for the implosion schedule.

Who the frick is Cedar? Anyone want to bet they are avoiding naming things after LSU alums these days due to current political climate of protesting anyone who might have once done something?

No dumbass they are just waiting for someone to donate enough money to put their name up.

Kirby Smith and the rest of the LSU buildings built in that era should be burned down. Eye sours on an otherwise great campus.

I went in many dorms and I never understood why Kirby Smith was like the projects of the LSU campus. Other dorms might have been tiny, outdated or somehow didn't have A.C., but the others weren't a mountain of shite and piss. I looked at Kirby Smith as more like a prison. But I did hear a lot great stories coming out of there.

I thought it was great as far as a dorm is concerned. Our suitemates were rarely there, so it was like having a private bathroom. Other than being too far from the fraternity house, I had no complaints.

he project, called the Greenhouse District, will demolish Kirby-Smith Hall, a 577-bed dorm, and replace it with a new 405-bed first-year residence called Cedar Hall.

Wow. This new dorm will be nearly the size of Kirby Smith.

The preliminaries of the Gateway Project look great, but I had no idea they were doing anything to the Kirby Smith area of campus. I though it was just the area where the old married student dorms were on Nicholson.
