Kiplinger Ranks Louisiana Tech as Best Public University Value in Louisiana

Just read that Kiplinger, the nation’s most recognized publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice, has ranked Louisiana Tech University No. 1 overall among the Louisiana’s public institutions in its Best College Values 2017.
I always enjoyed Ruston, it’s got that old-school classic vibe, and they have really done a lot with the downtown over the past few years. Probably a great place to get a great engineering education in-state.
Also, apparently in addition to its sixth consecutive Tier One National Universities ranking from U.S. News & World Report, Louisiana Tech was named Louisiana best higher education institution by MONEY’s 2016 Best Colleges Report. Louisiana Tech also ranked No. 1 in the state in median mid-career salaries for graduates, according to PayScale.com’s 2016-2017 College Salary Report.
Louisiana should be proud of such an outstanding institution in addition to other great schools we have in the Pelican State.

Went to SLU to talk to their professor that put together their relatively new Supply Chain Management Degree program as I was very interested about two years ago.
He mentioned that SLU's degree program was probably only equaled by that of LaTech's, with the real difference being that SLU printed Marketing on your degree while LT put SCM on theirs. Was surprised to hear him go into detail about how great LaTech was as a school in general.
Attended Tech for two quarters back in the late 90's right after graduating HS. Was a high quality education back then and I enjoyed the atmosphere there compared to LSU to be honest. LSU's only trump card was Athletics and location/proximity to my hometown.
Had things been different I'd have stayed.

I remember the rumor that Ruston supposedly couldn't have live-in sorority houses because more than 8 or so women living under one roof was a 'whore house'
Definitely not true, at least not under Louisiana's law.

So how long before someone jumps in and mentions that completely false tale that Lincoln Parish is dry and anyone caught drinking gets arrested on the spot?
Is that false?
Went to LSU for undergrad and there for graduate school. I enjoyed it. All in LSU was the better undergraduate experience I am assuming. Also ratings are nice but seem to mean little on job interviews I have had in the Northeast. LSU has name recognition.

Louisiana Tech is definitely better than all the other universities in Arkansas.

No it's not true. There are bars in downtown Ruston that stay open till 3 am.
The cut has made huge strides over the past ten years and even more since Ronny Walker took over. He's making a big push to revitalize downtown.

True but they close at 2, not 3.

Ruston really has grown over the last decade.
When I graduated in 2006 we still had to drive to West Monroe to go see a movie

I agree Tech is a good school, especially if you're seeking an engineering degree but the town of Ruston sucks balls as a college town. The liquor law is so antiquated it's sad.

Wylie Tower is going to be torn down and replaced with a building more in line with what surrounds it. Good riddance, I hated that fricking thing
Taking a Google SV tour of the campus,I'm amazed how much better it looks compared to when I was there in late 70's to early 80's
