Megaupload was the storage side, while Megavideo was a site that allowed users to watch stored videos without downloading through an embedded Flash video player. The public fronts of both sites were scrubbed to look clean, but prosecutors allege that was all to hide the real strategy revealed in internal e-mails: getting users to find the content they want through third-party search sites then encouraging them to buy premium subscriptions by cutting off their viewing after 72 minutes of video: just enough time to not finish watching a feature film.
Dotcom is about one thing: Making money from other people's work. It's not some benevolent gesture or a heroic stand for Internet privacy, it's simply about money in his pocket.

It looks like this guy allowed copyrighted movies and music to be shared for free on his site. Somehow he made big money off this.
The hipsters think it should all be free, and this is ok.
The government wants to prosecute and/or fine for copyright infringement.
Is this the basic Cliff's Notes to this?

Kim back in his Gumball 3000 days was a fvcking maniac. He's a boss

Basically you side with the government. Kim's counter is that they didn't have knowledge copyrighted material was being shared.

Interesting view into his side of the story.

Agree.
I don't get the love for him.
Plus, he's fat and I thought the OT hated fat.

He's such a boss that his fatness doesn't matter

That's pretty much total bossness.

no doubt he knew that he was hosting copyrighted materials. thats not really the point though. its like saying gunmakers are criminals because people use guns to kill each other.. or knives... or beer... or cars.

This was when I was first introduced to him. I just had to find out who the crazy fat guy in the black Benz was.

It's still a huge part of the government's case. They have to show he and/or the other megaupload administrators had direct knowledge that copyrighted material was being shared.
But yeah, there is no doubt they knew what was going on. It's just a matter of whether the govt can prove it.
