We've got to be the biggest pussies of all time.
So next time, the trick is to threaten movie theaters for showing a flick more than 1 person dislikes and they'll can it?
Hope they burn down anyway charging $15/ticket anyway.

Sony now cancels the release.
That's pretty unreal.
That's pretty unreal.

I have mixed feelings. I hate that the theater companies backed down - pussification of America. But, it was pretty stupid to have a movie about assassinating the leader of a country.

This makes more sense to me than theatres cancelling.
They (NK) have Sony by the balls. The leaks will cost Sony a shite-ton more money than the movie would ever make for them. Doesn't surprise me at all that Sony caved.
Don't have shitty network infrastructure next time. Hell, Sony has been on record as having a minimalist approach to network security. It bit them in the arse.

For now, yes.

You were just going to steal it off the Internet anyway. Why do you care?

Well if North Korea completely despised this movie, then I guess I have to see this movie now.

Something tells me torrent sites will, miraculously, find a way.

This 100%. They just made this movie 20 times more popular than it would have been on it's own.
Missing the point. Who cares about the movie. The threat worked. What threat will work next??

Sounds like you're referring to the slippery slope fallacy.

why is it a fallacy? never really understood that.
I'm being serious, would like an explanation...

Not buying this. The threat of violence was not the issue for Sony, but they will use it as the excuse.
Sony knows what data they still have, and that scares them much more than idle threats of violence. Real threats to release data is why Sony caved.
ETA: And I'd bet a years salary that the hacked data is released anyway.

I hope they do.
What kind of info could they possibly have that would allow them frightened enough not to release the movie?
