Kenedy County Texas

I've been intrigued by this place for a while. Only about 400 or so people in the whole county. It fronts on the GOM and is only about an hour from Corpus Christi so you'd think it would catch some distant sprawl. A lot of people would consider that a medium commute. Yet it stays mostly empty. Anybody been there?

Family had a small (20 acre) weekend place there when I was a kid. King Ranch owns most of the acreage in the county, plus a few rich Anglo families. Some oil and gas. Only claim to fame is that’s where Cheney got shot

Yes, my dad is from that area. It’s nice, tad bit desolate but plenty of places like that in Texas.

County is mostly private land via the King Ranch. Some of the best hunting land in Texas though. There are other, adjacent counties down there with very sparse populations though.

Kennedy Ranch is also 235,000 acres. Along with the Norias Division of the King Ranch. The county has way more cows than people

I’ve hunted out there a lot. Some really nice nilgai hunting in that area. Hunted the king ranch once

It’s basically the Kennedy Ranch and King Ranch which parallel one another. Mostly private land.

Been through there on my way to South Padre Island for Spring Break back in college in the early 90’s. Nothing there except tumbleweeds, cacti and holes with dead bodies. Oh, and a border checkpoint.

So he shot himself? What are you suggesting her and how did you confirm it by viewing the gun?

Settle down, I was just asking. I don’t know enough about that situation to make an argument either way.

Hunted a friends lease there for many years. King Ranch Norias section, one pasture was 15,000 acres the other 13,000. It’s big lots of cattle and strict King Ranch professional wildlife management rules.
Beautiful country Nilgai everywhere.

if the current Vice President had been shot it would've been well documented and anyone with a pulse should have some knowledge of it.... that's not to attack you Im saying had he been shot I trust you would be more familiar
and when I saw the gun it was sitting in a gun safe in Houston YEARS after the fact

Dick Cheney shot the other guy.

Sort of peppered him with birdshot. Fortunately not seriously hurt. Not to excuse what was an egregious safety violation, but stuff like this happens every weekend during hunting season.
