They keep lowering our overnight temp. Channel 2 just gave overnight low of 23!!!??

That's pipe busting cold no? Exterior pipes and hose bibs are covered. Gonna cut off and bleed sprinkler line. Pool is gonna be left on all night to protect exposed pipes.

23 degrees is "get nervous" cold I believe.

Or is our local NBC station full of shite with their number?

I seriously don't know how some of you people get out of bed everyday and function on your own.

I just wrapped our pipes last cold snap...which wasnt shite. But if it's gonna be below 32 for as long as they say tonight/tomorrow...maybe a drip ain't a bad idea.

Is everbody telling you to do it like they are me? All the hard freezes in BR over the years, we never let the water drip...?

Channel 2 just said it. 23 degrees. They do I believe exaggerate the lows and highs.

And yes running water is old school. Just a residual "go to" from a coonass upbringing and older smaller homes without slabs. And yep. Couple trailers in the family.

Leaving a sprinkler head spraying weakly sometimes makes beautiful art/ice sculptures.

I've only had one pipe bust since I've been here. And it was completely me being an idiot. Covered the hose bib but left the pool fill line that T'd off of it exposed. It made a nice fountain

Your houses have insulation, no?

We used to blow the pipes at our lakehouse in Northern Wisconsin in the winter to prevent burst pipes, but that was because it was shut down for longer periods of time. I don't think I remember us ever dripping the water in Green Bay as a kid no matter how cold it got.

I'm assuming there's something fundamentally different about your houses if you need to drip the water when it gets down to 23 for a bit. (Probably having a basement)

ETA: We didn't have an outdoor pool.

Our old house in Southdowns was up off the ground, and Dad used to let water run if freeze lasted several hours.

This house is on the ground. I think my insulation wrap will suffice.

Google says our low will be 24. So ch 13 not too far off.

Yeah a lot of pool pipe is always exposed. But large pipe and quick volume. Running overnight and the fluid volume is too much to freeze. Or if it got cold enough for it to freeze then it's Armageddon in Houston.

No where on their website lists anything that cold.

I am south of 10 and not worried.

The pool auto cycles when the temps get below 36.
Sprinkler has been drained for a few weeks.
Hose bibs covered except for one which I will bring the hose inside tonight and cover it.

We have a couple of palms that I will cover.
