Ok I'm done trolling

I'm amazed that you hooked as many as you did. You jumped in WAY too hard to pull it off, but then people bit on it anyway.

Also people are under estimating how popular Kanye is.

Maybe so, but LNCHBOX stating that most 25 year olds don't know who PM is is borderline hilarious. I won't say that PM is more popular than Kanye to people under 25, and I don't think many others would either. But PM is literally one of the most famous people on the planet, and has been for 50 years. Just because younger people may not be able to list the Beatles anthology doesn't mean they don't know who PM is.

Those quotes seem a little too in-your-face bad for me to take as non-trolls

That said, I'm in the mid 20s demographic being discussed and I can't imagine that the cliff for not knowing who he is came right after me. Teenagers, no doubt, I'd think there's a good chance because their parents likely were too young to be primary Beatles fans.

Anyone whose parents were born pre 1975 I expect they know who he is.

All that said, there's no excuse for anyone not knowing about the Beatles even if they don't know his name specifically.

I really think you'd be surprised. I imagine most people going "yea, I know him," then not being able to name a single thing he's done outside of that guy from the Beatles.

I don't mean literally never heard of the name. That would be asinine.

McCartney fans don't know who Kanye is either. They actually listen to music and lyrics.

Every time I see you post, it's something very stupid. Never change.

Well considering that's his exact claim to fame you're really circling the wagons around your argument

So should people not know who Eisenhower is simply because he hasn't done anything since 1960 either that people would know?

No, I'm not arguing that PM should be an equal standard to Eisenhower, but I'm illustrating that your peak often keeps you relevant forever even if it was a while ago.

It's not his recent claim to fame to many in this thread.

They're offering that to counter your requirement for recent relevancy.

Most people's opinion ITT: Being in the Beatles is enough.

Doing Super Bowls, Grammys & Olympics should only serve to remove all doubt.

Well then they know him. So what are we arguing about?

That's the position that I'm taking as well. I'm 26, and I'm pretty damn sure that all of my friends can list all the Beatles. Granted my friends might tend to know more about musicians, but I think everyone of my friends would be surprised to meet someone about the same age as us who didn't know the Beatles. The assumption would probably either be that the person doesn't care about music at all or is under-educated.

Well, this is what you originally said:
quote:

I'm willing to bet most people under 25 have no idea who he is.

Knowing his name/who he is isn't the same thing as what you were contending earlier.

So either you've changed your mind or you admit that you were trolling (which we know is the case anyway).

This whole thread is a stupid pissing contest about who knows more idiots in their life.

If I ever met someone who didn't know both Kanye and Paul McCartney, I would be fricking shocked. Don't think I could take them seriously.

Also, this new song is dope.

I can say yes I've heard a name while knowing basically nothing about the person attached to that name. I think for the under 25 crowd, Paul McCartney would fit that bill.

Wrong. You just specifically said that they wouldn't know who PM is, outside of him being a Beatle.

You've changed your stance yet again.

That is basically nothing in this day and age. If that person could name the rest of the beatles, or maybe what McCartney's role in the Beatles was, then they knwo more than basically nothing.

So we're clear that you've now changed your stance twice in this thread?

Cool.
