Connor Balthazor, 17, was in the middle of study hall when he was called into a meeting with his high school newspaper adviser.
A group of reporters and editors from the student newspaper, the Booster Redux at Pittsburg High School in southeastern Kansas, had gathered to talk about Amy Robertson, who was hired as the high school’s head principal on March 6.
The student journalists had begun researching Robertson, and quickly found some discrepancies in her education credentials. For one, when they researched Corllins University, the private university where Robertson said she got her master’s and doctorate degrees years ago, the website didn’t work. They found no evidence that it was an accredited university.

The students began digging into a weeks-long investigation that would result in an article published Friday questioning the legitimacy of the principal’s degrees and of her work as an education consultant.
On Tuesday night, Robertson resigned.
“In light of the issues that arose, Dr. Robertson felt it was in the best interest of the district to resign her position,” Pittsburg Community Schools announced in a statement. “The Board has agreed to accept her resignation.”

And here the only things the reveille can write about are "nooses" in tree, and safe spaces.

Good for the students. It's good that they don't take things at face value.

Pretty awesome.
Real journalists are fricking great. Hope the kid keeps it up for a career.

Well, that's a sincere way to address it.
Just be honest.
"That bitch lied about her education. She had to go"
I guess she figured, if she put down that she went to a school, that doesn't exist anymore, there would be no way to check whether or not she actually went. Or she is just an idiot.

Whatever teacher is in charge of the student newspaper had quite the nutcheck on allowing this story to go forward, would love to know when they let principal know, what the reaction was, etc

Makes the high school look bad. First page of google results for Corllins University has complaints that it is a scam.

Don't forget about trucks, the tool used by racist white students to oppress others by parking a little close to the line.

She just went to a diploma mill. Seeing as they did not do any background check she could have just put up a real school on her resume and had the job for as long as she wanted.

Good investigative journalism doesn't stop regardless of who the subject is.
Something that is missing in the media today.
Good for those kids for likely getting into a great university for this.

Most places the school board makes those hires, not the school itself. Definitely makes you wonder how she got in that position to begin with.
The article states she was CEO of a consulting firm for educational services prior to becoming the principal. This stinks.

The students should investigate the school board and figure out who decided to hire this person. May turn up nothing but incompetence. Worth looking at.

I would love to see that CV. Who did she consult for?

I wish they would come investigate my new director.
