Not that far then. It won't take long. I have a buddy who rides just over 20 miles each way but he is not fat like you. Plus we have real bike trails in DC.

You'll be over the soreness pretty quick. Now you get to see just how crazy drivers really are. Please make sure to not blow through lights and stop signs without yielding, to use hand signals and lights, and for God's sake, wear a helmet. The more of us that show respect, the more respect we get.

I would never bike to work in BR. That is a death wish.

I would imagine there are plenty of safe routes in BR to take on a bike

You learn the good routes. I had it easy. I lived in Capitol Heights and worked downtown. I'd cut through the Garden District, hit Park, take that to Laurel, and head into downtown. Not bad at all.

I live by City Park and work on campus. Only have to go on the road sparingly

I started biking to work. Josh does it and he lives a lot farther away than I do. And also it saves gas money, keeps me in shape, helps the environment, and now I know it makes me really sweaty for work.

I just keep extra deodorant in my office, no biggie

and I doubt I'll ride much in the summer, but right now, it is awesome

This.

Plus, I work in a kitchen. I'm always sweaty at work. Might as well be healthy too.

Your legs will hurt for about a week then be fine.

About tomm your taint is going to really start hurting and feel on fire. That last for about a week also and your good to go. The padded shorts help some but for a newbie your taints gonna feel like you sat on a wasp nest.

I would LOVE to ride my bike to work everyday, but I live and work on Bluebonnet and there's one stretch from I10 to Picardy that has no sidewalk. I'm too chicken shite to ride on the 3" shoulder that is provided, especially in the afternoons.
