Having that many kids is a form of child abuse.

I am always taken back in these situations that people act as if people who are strong Christians believe we are perfect and are shocked when we don't demonstrate perfection. The heart of our faith is the gospel that says we were so fricked up that God had to kill his son to make us righteous. Maybe you guys know some Christians that are holier than though or maybe that is just what you assume about all believers. The Christians I know are pretty self aware that they are sinners and almost all have families that are messed up in some way. Christians are grace addicts because we have come the the realization that we are messed up.

Never happened. They sold indulgences to remove temporal punishment for if people were already destined for heaven. The Church never approved and it was done by very sinful Bishops. The streets of hell are paved with the souls of bishops.

Though that was the model Christ laid down for us in the Bible. God forgives your sin, but Christ declared apostolic authority to Peter and chose that model for us to confess our sins. You clearly are not educated on the subject.

he Catholic Church is one of the most corrupt organizations in the history of the world

Clearly you're anti-Catholic. Any organization that has that many people in it will have some sinful and shitty people looking to serve themselves. THat's true of EVERY single organization.

quote:

d the fact that you're in here talking about a 14 year old Protestant boy when your ordained priests were molesting little boys in church is hilarious.

I'm not condemning the boy because he's protestant. Those priests should serve prison terms and are completely against God's word. It's not like Catholic canon doesn't condemn those sins.

My point about Protestantism hurting Christianity is that it spits in the face of science, portrays Christians as fricking ignorant, and all 33000+ denominations believe differently and have different Biblical interpretations. Catholicism is the most logical and scientific-friendly Christian church out there. If there were less ignorant protestant hicks, less young people would be driven away from Christianity.

then why didn't they bring out the skeleton in the closet and use it as one of their preaching gospel points of a show?

He's gotta stop, I'm about to pee my pants laughing about how woefully uninformed he is about his own and other religions.

Name one other religion that accepts science more?

Catholics don't believe in young earth and literal genesis. They don't deny the findings of science.

The fundies sure do.

There's nothing more young people like than sitting in a long, boring service with a priest rattling off from a book of prayers and 3 hour weddings.

How am I uninformed about my own?

There were priests that molested people and were sinners and were covered up bishops and other higher ups who were sinners?

The church still states all that behavior as sinful.

People who find mass boring are not educated as to what they are witnessing with the presence of the Eucharist.

I guess we can all do rock band.

That reminds me of this gem about protestant music lovers:

No. THe Catholic church is the only church than can trace it's roots back to Apostolic authority.

Protestantism started when Martin Luther (a very overly scrupulous man) didn't like going to confession anymore and the sins of bishops selling indulgences disgusted him. I agree with many of his theses, but people don't realize that he didn't want to start a new church.

Then you had another protestant branch start up in the church of england because people didn't like when Jesus Christ said two become one in marriage and that divorcing and remarrying is adultery. So, frick it, let's make a new church because we don't like the rules.

Then you have your prosperity gospel mega churches who twist truth. These are the people who post shite like "Just got $20 off my new tires, isnt' GOD GREAT!"

we're not talking about people in general. You said Protestants were putting off young people. Do you not agree young people relate more to a band than a 70 year old dressed up in a costume reading pre-written prayers in Gregorian chant?
