A family of 3 in the lodge room, 5 in the 2 bed, and let's say 2 families of 7 total in the 3 bed.

Lodge Room - 2 adults (176) and 1 child (96) - $272
2 Bed - 2 adults, 3 kids - $948
3 Bed - 4 adults, 3 kids - $1422
Meals for the 2 bed and 3 bed - 6 adults (345), 6 kids (177) - $522

Fully booked nightly revenue with no add-ons: $3164

Let's say a vacancy rate of 15%, which I think is high considering this is a lodge in the smokies. March 20th to November 21st is 246 days.

3164 * 246 *.85 = $661,592 revenue with no accounting for merch, wine sales, add-ons, etc.

I'd love to see how many lodges of each type the have, how many crew they have on site, if they give them full-time work, overtime, etc. Because $15 seems low for that sort of work without free housing.

Nah that’s really low. One night a week is 14.28%. Most of the year when kids aren’t out of school you are probably looking at multiple nights a week vacancy. Someone comes in and does a long weekend and then you maybe get a 1 or 2 night stay during the week every other week.

We met a really cool rafting guide that made that llama run twice a week. He moved from La post Katrina with his family for a better quality of life. I think I’m doing it wrong

Major rodent issues in the cabins! They crawl over you at night. I liked staying there but found it odd that they refuse to get rid of the mice because “we are in their home”. BS! They are multiplying on trail mix in backpacks. The breakfast is awesome, but I agree that most of the time it’s too foggy to see anything

When we hiked up there we didn’t stay the night. It’s really nice but living up there with all those stinky hippie bitches isn’t what I’d want. There’s tons of other jobs around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge where you can make decent money without living up on a mountain peak with no cell access and rats in your sleeping quarters.

I went up Alum Cave trail and down rainbow falls. I didn't experience any rats in my cabin, but can imagine that may be true. Leave a pile of trail mix outside the door of the neighboring cabin before bedtime and I'm sure you'd be ok.

If I remember correctly, they open up all reservations for the calendar year during a certain month in the preceding year. I don't think they have any problems at all selling all the 'rooms' every night they are open. I'd suspect they have a no refund policy to maximize revenue for expenses as well.

There's no road to the top of Mt Leconte. You have to hike to the top. Shortest route is 5 miles, and the second half is pretty steep. Supplies are brought up via llama train.

Calling it a "lodge" is extremely generous. Beautiful views, though.

Any tips on getting in? I’ve been trying through their whacked arcane reservation system for about the past 4 years with no success.

I rode on horseback to the top and back in 1979. It was a hell of a ride. Just one guide and I and two high spirited mountain horses. Actually 4 horses as we switched out for some fresh ones halfway up.

Would love to go up there again. Beautiful place and the only time I have seen mountains.

I don't think they allow horses on most of the public trails anymore. They think they damage the trails too much.

That's why they use llamas to pack in food and supplies to the lodge. You can see them in to paddock behind the lodge a couple of days a week.

I have hiked it a few times and stayed the night. It's not an easy hike. Someone got injured one time when I was staying and they brought horses to the lodge and the injured person was brought down the mountain on horseback. Have never seen horses any other times.
