As someone else said, I'd give it a week before following up. Depending on the size of the Company it may take a few days for your resume to get into the right hands. You want to show interest but you don't want to seem desperate at the same time.

As another poster said, I'd wait one week. If by next Tuesday or Wednesday you've heard nothing, try to go in person. If HR is not available, try to schedule an appointment.
Good luck and if you don't need the job, enjoy the next 4 years using the benefits you earned. You've earned the right to relax a little.
