Just got out of the military and I am a full time student. With VA disability & GI Bill I make very good money. I have been looking on Indeed and found a few jobs I'm interested in, so Monday I stopped in and filled out an application and turned a copy of my resume in. Curious how long before an employer calls you? I understand if they're not interested I won't get a call back but would it be fine if I called tomorrow to see if they have looked at my application and if there is any interest? Again I don't need a job at the moment but submitted to see if they thought id be someone they're interested in.

Absolutely do this.

If it's close to you, even go in and ask to speak with the 'hiring manager' or HR.

ETA: Although the type of position can affect whether or not this is good advice

I would say to wait about a week to call back. if you are too persistent, you may piss someone off.

Is your VA disability affected if you get a job?

Are you legit disabled or you just lied to get some free money?

It is close to me. I will stop in. Just didn't want to do it too soon. It's a sales position for pole buildings. It's a salary plus commission job. I have experience in sales (recruiting) and was in the military (Marines) for 10 years so QA & Leadership experience.

Always smart to follow up in person if possible. Stop by and ask to speak to the hiring manager or hr and bring a resume and be prepared for an impromptu interview.

Thank you for for service.

Legit disabled got medically retired (basically fell from a helicopter back in 08 multiple surgeries & even deployments after then had a MRI after a run and had 2 very invasive surgeries requiring stem cell implants & currently looking at ankle replacement.) just got out Sept 1st

Make sure you're applying for a job that will be valuable experience for your career, considering all your bills are paid for, and you're a student right now. Getting a job outside of your field to make some extra money isn't useful in the long run, and you should make the most of your financial security to benefit your career

Jesus...

I had a Sgt buddy of mine who had to go through the exact same thing. He became one disgruntled SOB.
