I assume Centerville Elementary School is a public school and as unpopular as this will be, I don't really agree with bringing religion into public schools. Do you think public schools should push a political agenda? I think the same applies to religion. Maybe the school made the decision based on the fact that there are kids who attend the school who does not celebrate Christmas so we really shouldn't promote any particular religious view.

ETA: Plus this has apparently been a tradition for 30 years, and nobody has complained of oppression from the one line in the show until now.

Well, A Christmas Carol is hardly The Passion of the Christ. There is nothing religios about the play/movie other than the line God Bless us, every one. And seriously, how uptight do you have to be to have a problem with a line like that? It's not like they are saying, god frick everyone, especially everyone who isn't christian.

I never wanted a penny of my tax dollars to go to Israel. If the US hadn't ever spent one penny on Israel there wouldn't be an Israel.

C'mon, that was the Romans. Just because they tried to pass the buck doesn't mean they didn't.

Let's be honest, it wasn't the Jews. This was probably the atheists complaining this time.

As an atheist, they disappoint me. Who cares what religions and practices make up Christmas. It's a reason to party and get new clothes so the Yule cat doesn't eat you. It's not about being miserable or making others miserable.

How stupid can people actually be and the media fanned the flames of this entire story but so did the School District. The family was going out of town for Hanukkah this week which is why they asked to be excused from the event and school week. It had nothing to do with the parents being upset or pissed about the Christmas Play.

Unfortunately a few low IQ individuals started throwing anti-Semitic accusations at a the family due to the school's piss poor public announcement and then the media blows this up into a public relations circle jerk causing an innocent family to flee for their safety.

Really sad indictment of our society so I do hope the family sues the shite out of the school district.

Seems like that is what it's coming to. Misery loves company.

Well the worst thing is this family felt the need to flee. On the upside, there are now fewer Jews in Lancaster County.

We need a festive boot. Anyone that tries to stop Christmas plays and people enjoying the season should get kicked in the crotch with it.

Also anyone that declares there's some sorta war on Christmas. They're just a miserable count on the other end of the spectrum stirring up shite.

Edit: like it could look like tree with a train painted on the steel toe.

I dunno, I'll leave this one to the Texans. They already make "merry" boots.

Edit2: Can't tell if downvoted by Texan or Grinch.

That's what the "fleeing" was for. It enhances the "distress" aspect of their forthcoming suit.
