I'm guessing she went to some store and he hustled (especially with a language gap) her or forcefully connected to her.

A jury has been seated for the capital murder trial of Quinton Tellis, accused of burning Jessica Chambers to death in Panola County, Miss.

The Pike County jury was seated Monday afternoon following a day of questioning that began at 9 a.m. After going home to pack, jurors will be transported more than 200 miles to Batesville, where the trial is expected to begin Tuesday.

Dist. Atty. John Champion, who will lead the prosecution, confirmed selection.

"We're finished," Champion said by text about 4 p.m. Monday.

More: Quinton Tellis preparing to go on trial for burning death of Jessica Chambers

He said he wasn't sure what time opening arguments will begin Tuesday.

"Depends on when the jury gets back" for the long drive north, Champion said.

The makeup of the panel is seven men and five women. Jurors are evenly split racially between white and black.

Pike County, in South Mississippi on the Louisiana line, was chosen for the pool because of similar demographics to Panola County. The panel will be sequestered for the duration of the trial, expected to last up two weeks.

Tellis is accused of setting Chambers, 19, on fire after dousing her with gasoline. Chambers was found stumbling from her Kia Rio sedan about 8 p.m. the evening of Dec. 6, 2014, along a rural road near her Courtland home.

Tellis and Chambers grew up together in Courtland. He moved to Monroe, La., after Chambers died, and he is accused of first-degree murder in the death of an exchange student there.

What a load of shite . If by some miracle the DO catch them, they won't do much if anything to them.

The defense will twist it around to be a race issue and that'll be that.
They won't want run the risk of being called racist.

Yes they arrested Quinton Tellis. He's also accused of murdering a female student on ULM's campus before he murdered Chambers.

He is friends with gas station guy. Pictures of him in background during interview with gas station owner. LINK

Cliffnotes from Reddit.

Citing the Source

quote:

Jury began the day w. a field trip. They went to the area where Jessica Chambers was found by first responders and her car was burned, the M&M First Stop convenience store (last place JC was seen alive), and Quinton Tellis' home. They also saw the ditch where JC's keys were found. They looked at the shed where QT admitted to keeping gasoline and surveillance video showed a car pulling up to on the night of her death. Jury saw the access road leading to QT's sister's house. This is the route prosecutors believe QT took from the crime to his sister's to borrow her car. Last stop was the area behind QT's home where he and JC supposedly had sex

Mary Beth Hall
-NP w. Burn unit at trauma center in Memphis
-Notified night of Dec 6 that a burn patient was being flown in via helicopter.
-C had mainly third degree burns w. a few second degree burns. Burns on chest were so deep air wouldn't go into lungs so MBH called for an anesthesiologist to help JC breathe
-MBH knew JC would not survive her wounds, so they began "comfort care"- morphine drip and dressings to keep her comfortable
-Burns were so deep they couldn't pick up 02 stats from her fingers, toes, or ears. "Her skin was cold"
-When JC's BP began to drop, they called in family to tell them there was nothing else they could do. TOD was 2:36AM on December 7, 2014

Dr. Erin Barnhart (former Deputy Chief ME for Jackson, MS)
-Performed autopsy on JC
-External exam noted on sexual trauma
-Burns on 93% of body. 2nd/3rd degree burns to face, scalp, neck, chest, back, arms, front of legs. Only areas not burned were groin, butt, soles of feet and rear side of upper thighs. Jury got to see autopsy photos of face, body, and airway after it had been removed- this was not shown on the feed I was watching
-Ruled death a homicide
-Cross: Asked about the toxicology report- JC had marijuana and nicotine in her system

Dr. William Hickerson
-Director of Med Trauma Center in Memphis
-Contacted the night JC was brought in, sent updates by attending physician (Dr. Michael Van Vliet)
-Initial impression was 95% burns, majority of which were 3rd degree (burns that go all the way thru skin)
-Essentially no chance of survival
-Demonstrated on autopsy photos (not shown on feed) where MVV made incisions into JC because she couldn't breathe due to burns making skin stiff. Even w. tube inserted, they couldn't get enough air pressure into JC unless they relieved the tightness of her burned flesh which would allow lungs to expand
-Entire face had third degree burns. Butt and genitalia not burned, which indicated she was sitting when she was burned and in an enclosed space
-JC's injury was not common and not one they see in burn centers
-Her lips would not move, tongue was not working correctly, and she could not enunciate from the steam and inhaling chemicals contained in fire and heat. Also did not have enough air for correct speech

Barry Thompson
-Chief Investigator, called back to stand- he had been w. the jury on their field trip
-Due to high profile and unusual nature of case, he had all types of agencies offering help, and he accepted any and all help given. They set up a "war room" to handle evidence and info. FBI, MBI ATF, and US Marshall Service assisted
-Interviewed 15 people named Eric or Derrick, none were viable suspects
-Contact interviews were made w. several people- informal interview where Miranda rights are read, but person interviewed is not necessarily a suspect.
-December 10, 2014: Contact interview w. QT. He is mirandized, read rights, and agreed to talk w. investigators. Investigators asked him how he knew JC and where was was the day of the fire.
-QT met JC through Kesha Myers (KM) who testified on Day 1 of the trial. KM gave JC's number to QT. When they hung out they would "cut blocks" and smoke weed. He admitted to having sex once w. JC but said he was at the "sandbox" (a local hangout) when the crime occured. He was with "Big Mike" and "Tootie"
-QT told investigators Derrick Holmes (DH) had been stalking JC
-QT gave a DNA sample

Barry Thompson Cross
-Asked BT his position in chain of command: Sheriff, Chief Deputy, and then him (Chief Investigator)
-Asked who was in charge of interviews, investigations, evidence collection, and other matters
-No evidence resulted from search and rescue team walking local roads the night of the fire
-Reason for initial interview w. QT was due to finding his number in JC's cell records
-Interview was casual: "I wouldn't say he was a suspect at the time. It was just someone who knew her...we questioned hundreds of folks this way"
-He said that KM introduced QT to JC- this conflicts w. KM's testimony from Day 1
-He did not know what time QT was at the sandbox w. the two others mentioned, only an approx time. Defense fired back by asking how can he ask QT where he was at the time of the crime if he didn't even know the time of the crime?
-Did talk to DH, the name given by QT as a possible suspect. DH is a registered sex offender in Mississippi and lives in Courtland
-Asked if he had been out to crime scene or QT's home- he had but he didn't collect any evidence or take pics. Also did not have a list of Eric's they interviewed.
-Was everything pertaining to the case kept in war room? - Not all the time
-Redirect: Items from scene tested positive for gasoline, the accelerant used to start the fire. QT also admitted to having sex w. JC once, and said he was w. her until around Noon on Dec 6th

Dustin Blount
-FBI Special agent, interviewed QT at his home in Courtland. Described him as cooperative
-QT said he was first introduced to JC via KM at M&M First Stop
-They struck up a friendship quickly, had sex once. Rode around alot
-They had sex in her car in a grassy area adjacent to QT's house, he was in passenger seat, reclined
-One time JC was sick and QT went to the ER w. her
-Cross: QT allowed a cell phone search. Admitted he deleted texts from JC, when he was asked if it was because she died, he said he didn't remember. Also looks at surveillance footage of QT at Fred's on Dec 6th at 8:45PM

Katherine Rodgers
-Forensic DNA Specialist
-Found a mixture of DNA on JC's keys
-Keys were tested for DNA of DH (the man whom QT said was stalking JC) and his DNA was not found
-Jerry King (man who found keys)- DNA results were inconclusive
-QT DNA found on keys
-Cross: Cannot tell WHEN QT left DNA on her keys

Issues w. State of Mississippi's Case
-As some of you have already noted, there are some problems w. the State's case. First and foremost, there are a total of 9 witnesses who heard JC state "Eric" did this to her. Not Quinton Tellis. During Kesha Myers' cross from the first day, she stated she had never heard JC call QT "Eric" and she also stated JC was selling marijuana.
-Investigator Dixon isn't great w. handling evidence. He threw out cigarette lighters found at the burn scene because they were rusted, which he believed meant they were old and unrelated. In reality, it is impossible for him to know if the rust was natural, or from the heat of the car fire. Regardless of the origin of the rust, a DNA profile should have been attempted. It wasn't. He also found evidence at the scene (beer cans) which led to the appearance that it may be a "party spot". Because JC was dealing marijuana, they should have investigated if she sold marijuana to people in this area or its vicinity
-JC's keys: These were handled by JK, his one year old child, and his baby momma, wrapped in paper towel, and then handled by the investigator. The investigator then took the keys to the area where JK believed he found them, put them on the ground in the ditch, and took photos. It is unclear why he decided to risk DNA contamination/loss of DNA evidence just to photograph them in an area they may have been found
-And lastly, the connection to the Louisiana murder...

The Louisiana Murder
-As we know, QT has also been charged for a murder in Louisiana. He was not indicted for the Mississippi murder until Feb 2016, at which point he was already locked up in Louisiana on charges related to the Louisiana murder. He was officially charged in Louisiana in July 2016. He was first interviewed by Mississippi investigators on December 10, 2014- NOT as a suspect.
-The criminal informant who lead Louisiana authorities to Quinton Tellis was named Eric, and had dated QT's sister in Courtland, Mississippi. Eric initially told Louisiana investigators someone else was responsible for the murder of Hsaio, after they realized he was lying, he then accused QT of her murder. Eric says QT shared details of the Louisiana murder w. him when the two men were sharing "war stories" about their past crimes (Unsurprisingly, Eric has a criminal history). It is unclear if Jessica Chambers knew Eric the Informant

M...F... what a local yokel dumb horse's arse. Wrapped in a paper towel? "Risk" contamination/loss? No, there is no "Risk" of DNA contamination/loss, there was absolutely contamination/loss. Bc it is such a high profile case and locals are the jury in a case of an attractive young white girl, the guy will be found guilty. But if this were being defended by a high power competent attorney, this guy walks.

The EMT responder testified he was so shocked and horrified when he found her that he didn't ask her who had done this to her. But he said others on site did, and she said, "Eric or Derek".

Too much of a coincidence that the responders, who do not know the parties involved, would say they heard the name "Eric" and that JC & QT would happen to have a known person named Eric. So I don't buy the DA's excuse that her vocal cords were so damaged the first responders misheard "Eric" for "Quinton".

quote:

Tellis and Chambers grew up together in Courtland

The mother and father say they've never heard of nor seen QT. And the DA opened his argument by saying Jessica had only known Tellis two weeks before her death. (Enough time apparently fornher to sleep with him).

Too many things not adding up here.

Throw in the fact that QT's sister was dating a CI named Eric....

Vocal cords being damaged or not, you believe someone burned from inside can properly enunciate words?

Regardless, I highly doubt he was arrested on that alone. There is a reason jurors are instructed to hold judgement till all evidence is presented.

I feel like this Ali cat knows something.

quote:

You might remember Ali telling a local reporter that the CCTV video was not time-synced to adjust for daylight savings time in, what seemed at the time to be, an attempt to cloud one of the more important aspects of Jessica’s travel and timeline on the night she was killed.

quote:

Back in 2014 – Without ever contacting law enforcement first, Ali allowed a reporter to film the CCTV footage and then two days later contacted the reporter to falsely advise him of the time-stamp issue.

quote:

Now again, remember the police didn’t find this CCTV video, a reporter did. The reporter then shared that he contacted the police department to inform them of its existence. The construct of the original reporters footage therein has been widely distributed to various outlets who also share it in their news stories.

According to the same reporter, two days later the owner/operator then tells him the CCTV time stamp is off. Yet, if you align the original time with Mom, Lisa Chambers, saying Jessica left shortly after 6pm it doesn’t seem like the CCTV time is off. So why would the owner/operator now be changing the timeline?

Did they (according to QT) have sex the one time the day of the murder or was that previously?

Also:
quote:

Dr. Erin Barnhart (former Deputy Chief ME for Jackson, MS) -Performed autopsy on JC -External exam noted on sexual trauma

Anyone know if the criminal/medical standards for sexual trauma could also involve relatively rough sexual intercourse?
