This is a total disaster. I have been using this stretch of road for years for my commute. It's a joke right now.

It’s been a joke most of my lifetime.

Pretty sure most of the 80s saw the most common flower on it being an orange construction cone.

They've been needing to 4 lane Old Hammond from Sherwood out to Florida Blvd for 30 years. It's odd how they choose which projects to prioritize

They don’t wanna spend that kinda money. It’s kinda apples to oranges. Nothing is changing about Jefferson

I think they didn’t want to deal with construction workers dodging bullets near Blvd De Province.

Any idea why they aren't working portions of this at night?

Whenever you have a project like this the contractor will run into unknown problems such as caved in sewer lines, hidden natural gas lines, forgotten AT&T fiber lines, collapsed drain pipes and on and on.

Thus the 'Change Order' .

The residents who live over there would complain and it is probably a violation of a city noise ordinance.

the general public cries because of shitty roads. Then cry when they fix said roads because you're inconvenienced.

no dumb dumb....People cry because they're horribly planned, slow, and typically so far behind when they actually needed to be done (10+ years ago) by the time they're completed, they aren't really fixing the current issues.

No idk, that’s between DOTD/Construction Co. Probably the amount of lighting it would take? I’m guessing.
It’s only gonna be 1 lane in each direction until they finish the middle that’s being worked on now. Then they’re gonna open up the middle, leave one of the current lanes open & shut the other down.
So 3 phases.
1. Inside lanes & suicide lane
2. 1 outside lane
3. Other outside lane

I believe we voted to widen Old Hammond eastward in Broome’s MovEBR plan.

The Jefferson Hwy. is a DOTD project that they are doing before they can turn Jefferson over to the Parish for maintenance. It is another road swop.

It was also in Kip Holden’s green light plan that didn’t get done.

As someone who lives in that area and uses that road every day, it was in terrible shape. I'm ok with the inconvenience if I get a better highway out of it.

I don’t think they started working on it until late August and it was supposed to be completed within 90 days.

They just recently started doing some culvert work. I avoid this part of Nicholson like the plague.

It’s such a shite show but dumb arse Baton Rouge drivers make it worse by blocking intersections when there’s no where to go because they’re selfish pricks. I didn’t move an inch on 3 light cycles on Jefferson at bluebonnet because of that shite

I drive it everyday and it was in terrible condition, especially right by I-12. There were holes and bumps around there that could mess your car up.

that being said, i'd rather drive around those bumps or simply deal with fixing them constantly, as opposed to waiting 2 fricking years to redo the road.
Why on earth is this project going to take 2 years?

It was really bad. People who “don’t know why they are redoing it” must not really drive it much.

Thats the whole project. The two middle lanes from I12 to Bluebonnet will be done by the end of April. Then it should be 3 lanes for the rest of the project.

They couldn’t completely rip out the outside lanes because of all the businesses and homes. So they will alternate sides and only tear up a small outside section at a time. It increases the amount of time for the whole project, but will leave an extra lane open.
