You're right. She was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7 and was beached to save her from sinking. Later on she provided shore bombardment for Operation Overlord (Normandy invasion aka D-Day). She the went back to the pacific where she provided the same service during the Battles of Iwo Jima and later Okinowa. After the war she was towed to Bikini Atoll as part of the ghost fleet of target ships for the U.S. navy's atomic tests there. She actually survived two atomic blasts! Later she was towed back to Pearl Harbor where she was sunk as a conventional target ship.

Raccoon is named Rebecca.

It's owners were Calvin and Grace Coolidge.

Calvin Coolidge was the 30th POTUS.
